Tom Bihn Synapse 25

Over here at The Man’s Man we are sold on the packs that Tom Bihn puts out. Tom Bihn (the man) has been designing packs for more than 40 years and he feels a personal responsibility to put out a product that is unique, looks good, lasts long, and fills a niche that no one else has filled. He’s doing an excellent job at fulfilling this purpose. These packs are functional and quality made.

After using the Smart Alec pack for the last 5 months for everyday carry and day trips we were really excited to get our hands on the newest pack from the guys at Tom Bihn.

The Synapse 25 is the big brother to the Synapse 19. Not only is the 25 a larger version of the 19 it also introduces 5 new design updates to the Synapse line.

First design update are the 4 webbing loops. In the picture above you can see the Vertical Rail Cache secured to the loops. This particular Cache is made to fit the Macbook Air 13. The Cache with Rail system makes the Synapse 25 a “checkpoint friendly” laptop pack.

Here’s a better shot of the Cache with Rail system. You can see how the Cache slides right out and makes getting through checkpoints a breeze.

The front of the Synapse 25 is super clean with 5 zippered pockets. Inside those pockets you will find a couple more design updates. They have added more O-Rings for attaching items and the left front pocket of the Synapse 25 has a pen/pencil slot and a couple wider slots for other gear organization.You will find the 4th design update on the bottom pocket. There was piping added to help it keep it’s shape even when empty. The final design update is the botom webbing loop. In the picture above the Guardian Dual Function Light is attached to that loop for biking or walking at night.

The Synapse 25 comes in 10 different color combinations. The pack pictured is the “Steel Dyneema” color. Dyneema is a material that is super strong yet lightweight.
