Murray Carter was born and raised in Canada but found himself in Japan at the age of 18. While in Japan he apprenticed under a 16th generation Yoshimoto bladesmith that lasted 6 years. After the apprenticeship he was asked to be the 17th generation in the Sakemoto family tradition of bladesmithing. He continued forging blades in Japan for 12 years and he now calls Oregon his home. The guy has over 19,000 hand forged knives under his belt! We have attached a short documentary on Murray’s work for your viewing pleasure.
