The reality is that cell service is not always the most reliable. Think sporting events. You are in a stadium full of people and you try and text out a picture of the game. More often than not that text isn’t going to make it to the intended recipient. The goTenna allows you to communicate without cell towers, wifi, or satellites. So when you are off the grid,in the backcountry,or in a location where the network is bogged down you can remain connected. There is a catch though… The goTenna is sold in pairs and will only communicate with someone else that has a goTenna connected to their phone. The goTenna is paired with your phone wirelessly using Bluetooth. Then you use their free app to type out text messages or share your location on a map. The range is 1 to 6 miles and in “ideal conditions” could be as much as 50 miles. The design is compact, lightweight, and comes with a built in strap to attach it to a pack or gear. For your viewing pleasure we have included a video.
