Packrafting has really picked up steam in the last few years…The Klymit Litewater Dinghy is probably the lightest one we have seen. The LWD was designed with input from pro kayakers and packrafters. The unique boat shape makes for a comfortable seating position and a supported paddling position. It’s not a boat you would want to take down Class V rapids but definitely a great option to pack into an alpine lake and get out where the fish are. The construction is not quite as sturdy as an Alpaca but an Alpaca is not 35 ounces either. The LWD packs down to the size of a standard Nalgene bottle and won’t add a lot of weight to your pack. The included dry sack pump makes for easy inflation and the two valves make for quick deflation. You would need to pack in a paddle as well so we recommend a 4 piece paddle. The Advanced Elements paddle is a good option weighing in at 2.5 lbs.
